Things are moving fast towards the opening of our new Community Shop and Cafe. Over the last 6 years over 300 residents have become members and more than 100 people in the village have been actively involved.
Together we have raised over £190,000 (March 2018) towards our village shop. Over the last 5 months seven villagers have made donations and pledges totalling nearly £60,000. Read about the Community Share Offer
Now we need to raise a minimum of £50,000 from a community share offer to start building. With the generous HMRC tax incentives on offer, this really means the ultimate cost to villagers could be as little as £25,000 to give us a shop and cafe by Christmas.
LATEST NEWS: As of 20 April we are 2/3 of the way there with £34,000 raised. Don't miss the 6 May deadline. Get your application form in now.
Bledington Community Shop and Café will be sited within a new timber clad building, in the heart of the village, in Middle Orchard. It is owned by village residents, and will be run as a cooperative for the benefit of the community.
Our new shop will be within 5 minutes walking distance for most of us. The shop will not only provide daily essentials and attractive local products, but also a bright café with high quality coffee, pastries, hot soup, and sandwiches. Imagine, grabbing a cup of coffee with friends, stopping for a chat, and buying a few essentials. It will be a new heart to our village.
We have had backing from a number of trusts and grant making bodies including Summerfield Trust, Plunkett Foundation, Big Potential, a Big Lottery Fund grant programme managed by Social Investment Business and Susanna Peake Charitable Trust.
The tax-efficient Community Share Offer is now open until 6th May.Contact any of the management committee for more information, or if you wish to be involved either via the website, see us on facebook or via email@example.com. Please Sign Up to Our Mailing List Today
